I got these because I wasn't sure if I would like chaps or not, but I got tired of trying pant liners, etc. and I also don't want numb legs after my 25 minute commute to work. I ordered by the size chart (my thighs are about 25.5" where the diagram shows) and I got the XLs. At first I thought they were way too small because I could barely get the zippers to start, but after reading some forums where the old guys talk about how chaps should fit, I found out they should fit snug and you should be able to slide 1 hand in at the thigh and they should be tight when you do that which is exactly what these fit like. I wound up wearing these going to a town over yesterday (about a 50 minute ride at mostly 65mph and city riding for the last 15 minutes with a temp of 28F when I left the house) and my legs stayed warm the entire time. I wore these over my regular kevlar lined riding jeans with nothing else as well and they didn't limit my movement at all while riding.
